Frequently couples find themselves growing apart and find it difficult to get back to a space where they can grow together. Life circumstances get in the way of their original bonds. They usually lack a true understanding of the other, become frustrated, angry and lose hope. Therapy will provide immediate relief through minimizing futile unproductive arguments, and will foster the loving relatedness that brought couples together in the first place.

Couples therapy focuses on increasing intimacy and reducing conflict. By creating an emotionally safe and healing environment where the couple can strengthen their bond to one another, clients work to identify negative interaction patterns in the relationship and change those patterns. In this way, understanding, compassion, and intimacy replaces confusion and distress. Each partner in any relationship brings their own set of baggage that can feel overwhelming to the other and trigger emotional states and problematic patterns. Through emotional connectedness and understanding, space can be built in the relationship for each person’s history. Couples can learn to safely unpack all of their baggage together and each person’s unique history will have a safe and non-threatening place in the relationship.
